Sunday 24th January 2010 We Saw an Event Happen That was Very Different from Anything we've seen in Greece and Before Anything we've seen in the Rollerbladers community. The first Red Bull Park in-line event was the first event to successfully integrate Rollerbladers from different walks of life to compete on a level playing field and have fun together as a single community. It was a bitter 5 degrees but all the people were keeping warm by hanging out wile the participants kept warm running up and down the 5 story parking long that hosted the event. The fitness skaters stepped out furthest from their comfort zone to speed down the 5 floors of awkward asphalt, unpredictable turns, nearly freezing cold humidity and unpredictable opposition wile the aggressive skaters did what they do best which is adapt to the terrain granting Odisseas Selelmatzidis a position in the finals on the 4th and a Coolth Place. It was the Hockey players who dominated the podium however. 1st place winner Lefteris Fournogerakis said "I'm very excited and fortunate that I won such a unique event, I needed luck and good preperation for this". In second and third place: Lucas Hadjigiannakis and Akis Kotronis respectively.
Somewhere Between the Start and Finishing Lines, Between the Massive plasma Screen TV's and the Pick-up Truck blasting TUNES, on the Third Floor, a launch to Rail Fun Box and .5 meter High grind Box were planted alongside the Massive plasma Screen TV's and a big group of off Aggressive in-line skaters doing damage. Race took the mainstage But in this Corner of the the 3rdRD Floor the Aggressive skaters were hitting Tricks from 5:00 and did Not stop Until the Food Came out at 10:00. In a long and relaxed session the guys from SYEAH SKATE and other crews including quite a lot of new faces some of us older guys had never seen before the people saw a lot of tricks. Unfortunately the ceiling was very low which meant no air ... but that didn't stop the the Rollerbladers from greasing the grind box. There were tricks being pulled off constantly by everyone and it really showed how far the aggressive inline skating scene in Greece has come in the last 2 years with a level of maturity coming from the older crews and a lot of progress coming from the younger crews, and I mean young ... We're all looking forward to what we will see from these guys in the future especially with what looks like more and more opportunities like this event by Red Bull to show the Action Sports community which at times looks like its turned their back on them, what they can do and what we bring to the community at large.
